How to Cook Turkey Bacon in the Oven
If you’re cooking turkey bacon for your family or a large group, the oven is the way to go! Not only can you make a lot of pieces at once, they’ll turn out crispy.
I prefer making turkey bacon in the microwave or oven, as it has a limp texture when cooked in a pan. I’ll explain how to cook turkey bacon in the oven, but first, how does the nutritional value of turkey bacon differ from pork bacon?
Turkey Bacon vs. Pork Bacon
Pork bacon is made from pork belly. A slice of pork bacon has over 2.5x the calories, nearly 3x the fat, and over 2x the amount of sodium than turkey bacon has. However it also has more protein. Turkey bacon is made from ground turkey that’s pressed into strips.
Here’s how Oscar Meyer turkey bacon compares to Oscar Meyer hardwood smoked bacon.

How to Make Turkey Bacon in the Oven
Making turkey in the oven will only take 10-15 minutes. All you need is a baking sheet and turkey bacon. Parchment paper or foil is optional, but will make for easier cleanup.
- Preheat your oven to 400℉.
- Pinch ridges in the foil to create a makeshift baking rack. Place it on your baking sheet and add the turkey bacon.
- Cook for 12 minutes. If the bacon isn’t cooked to your liking, cook for 1-3 more minutes, watching closely so that it doesn’t burn.
- Remove from the oven and blot with a paper towel.
I’ve found that 15 minutes is too long, and the bacon will end up burnt on the edges. The ideal baking time may differ for you depending on your oven and elevation.
Some people recommend flipping the bacon halfway through, but in my opinion there isn’t a significant difference if you flip it or don’t flip it, so I prefer to cut out that extra step.
How to Make Turkey Bacon in the Microwave
If you’re running short on time or only making a couple pieces of turkey bacon, I suggest trying the microwave method. This is my personal favorite for weekday mornings, when I’m trying to whip up a quick breakfast. Here’s how:
- Place a paper towel on a microwave-safe plate.
- Add desired amount of turkey bacon.
- Cover with another paper towel.
- Microwave for 20 seconds per piece, and then in 10 second increments until cooked.
For example, if I’m cooking two pieces of bacon, it will typically take 40-60 seconds to cook them. The exact time will depend on the strength of your microwave.
